The Bird's Eye View - Low level Fusion
The benefits of low-level fusion are manifold. It significantly enhances the safety and efficiency of automated driving by early data fusion to resolve individual technology deficits.
Using 2D in-image, complementary to the 3D fusion space extraction received from Radar and/or Lidar data, creates a 360° spatial field of view, including traffic participants, occupancy and road model. This robust sensor fusion is crucial for navigating complex driving scenarios, such as urban environments with dense traffic and numerous obstacles. Additionally, low-level fusion contributes to the system's redundancy and fault tolerance.
An advantage of Continental as a sensor supplier, is the direct access to the raw-data of the sensors.
This level of reliability is essential for achieving higher levels of automation, where the vehicle must be capable of handling a wide range of driving conditions without human intervention.
