Sept 25 2024 - Continental is developing a tree seeding robot, together with nature restoration company Land Life, for autonomous, high-quality nature restoration globally. This robot, developed by our in-house development service provider Continental Engineering Services (CES) effortlessly navigates through difficult terrain and sows one seed per minute. This makes it a particularly effective and sustainable solution for reforestation in regions affected by environmental damage.
Autonomous tree seeding robot
to mitigate effects of deforestation
We are paving the way for restoration and conservation of vital ecosystems through our revolutionary tree seeding robot. It can sow up to one tree seed per minute, with the remote-controlled vehicle able to place up to 60 pits in the ground per hour. This advanced technology ensures effective reforestation with sustainable, practical solutions, especially in locations with difficult terrain.
With CES designing the automatic drilling and seeding module for efficient sowing of the seeds, Land Life's expertise in nature restoration projects has added a multidisciplinary approach to the innovation.
The tree seeding robot offers several advantages compared to conventional sowing and planting techniques. The innovative, fully automatic direct sowing method ensures optimum embedding of the seed and is effective in varying soil conditions, strong weather, dust, and extreme temperature fluctuations. The electrically powered seed drill guarantees high-quality precision sowing, enabling the sowing of native seeds in various shapes and sizes while navigating dramatically different terrains including rocky and sandy zones, extreme inclines, and sharp slopes, and slippery surfaces covered with branches and debris.
