Automechanika 2024

Continental expands aftermarket product range

with focus on sustainability

Sept 10 2024 – At the Automechanika Frankfurt 2024, Continental is presenting the highlights of our expanding aftermarket product range, which includes several sustainable products that set new standards in environmental compatibility and climate protection. We are adding new product groups to our portfolio, including spare parts for chassis and steering, as well as camera and radar sensors and high-pressure fuel pumps. Our sustainable products range from premium brake discs and pads to Multi V-belts and tires.

A world innovation from Continental being showcased at Automechanika is the CONTI NXT Multi V-belt, which is made of almost two-thirds of more sustainable materials compared to conventional V-ribbed belts. CONTI NXT is the first-ever Multi V-belt to use tension cords made from recycled PET bottles, a textile cover layer made from organic fibers, as well as rubber certified according to the mass balance standard and recycled carbon black.

Continental also introduces the ATE New Original product line. It has been created  for the higher demands of modern brake systems such as electromobility, as well as regulatory requirements like the upcoming Euro 7 regulation which aims reducing fine dust emissions.  ATE New Original introduces two novelties at Automechanika: Friction pairings for disc brakes and the ATE SecuBrake brake fluid are both being premiered at Automechanika.

The friction pairings for disc brakes include the brake disc and pad that are perfectly matched, and designed to offer the optimal combination of longevity, braking performance, comfort, and sustainability. The brake pads are also copper-free in compliance with the US Better Brake Law standard. ATE starts with friction pairings for high-volume e-car such as the VW ID3/4 and TESLA Model S. The product range will also be further expanded during the year, providing dealers and workshops with a portfolio to cater to the growing number of electric vehicles. In the  future, it will also new  regulatory requirements such as Euro 7 norm.

The SecuBrake brake fluid is also part of the ATE New Original product line. It exceeds the requirements for DOT 4 brake fluids and is also suitable for electric vehicles. Since the ATE SecuBrake is produced sustainably using mostly renewable raw materials, it results in a significantly improved CO2 footprint compared to conventional brake fluids. Also, it does not contain borate, thereby eliminating the need for hazardous substance labeling and simplifying handling in the workshop.

We are also showcasing our tires, which are the first series tires with a very high proportion of sustainable materials. The UltraContact NXT contains up to 65 percent renewable, recycled, and mass-balance-certified materials, combining a high level of sustainability with maximum safety and performance.

There is also a strong requirement for further efficiency in workshops, especially with scarce availability of personnel and higher workload. With our solutions the virtual assistance tool “Remote Expert”, QR code repair guide, key figure compass for profitable workshop management and the ContiDrive app we contribute to workshops working smarter and more efficiently.
