Making Europe's roads safer and working conditions fairer for drivers and fleets – these are the main objectives of the EU Mobility Package. To ensure reliable and data-secure monitoring of compliance with the new regulations, a new control device was also specified: the second version of the smart tachograph, which has been mandatory since August 2023 for new vehicles over 3.5 tons in international transport. By July 2026, all commercial vehicles over 2.5 tons in the existing fleet that carry out cross-border transportation must also be equipped with the devices.
The VDO DTCO 4.1 fulfills all legal requirements, has many new functions that make it easier for both fleet managers and drivers to fulfill their compliance tasks, and at the same time retains the well-known operating concept so that drivers do not have to get used to a new system.
