Wireless Power Transfer System
The wireless charging system enables a vehicle battery to be charged automatically, eliminating the need to plug the vehicle to an electrical outlet. The system uses the principle of electrical induction using two resonator coils, one situated on the ground and connected to the electrical grid via a wall box, and another situated in the vehicle and connected to the battery. The system can transfer power at up to 11kW, and is compatible with worldwide electrical grids. It is able to detect and react to potential safety hazards such as the presence of a living or metallic object between the resonators during power transfer. The system also provides driver assistance to enable precise positioning of the vehicle over the ground resonator, to enable power transfer efficiency of over 90%.
