The EBA system is designed to avoid accidents by means of driver visual/audible alert as well as automatic partial and full braking. The EBA function may cascade the different warning and braking stages as well as the different levels of deceleration.

Cross Traffic

The Emergency Brake Assist – Cross Traffic supports the driver in critical situations with crossing traffic participants. The function warns with a visual/audible alert and intervenes with full braking if necessary.

  • This function is designed to reduce most of the accidents that happen due to the lack of the driver’s awareness of a hazardous situation such as approaching vehicles with a high relative speed.
  • EURO NCAP 2020 relevant

Pedestrian

The EBA-Pedestrian system avoids collisions with pedestrians by means of visual/audible alert and automatic full braking.

  • This function reduces most of the accidents that happen due to the driver’s lack of awareness of a hazardous situation such as pedestrians crossing the vehicle path
  • EURO NCAP 2016 relevant

Rear Cross Traffic Assist with Braking (RCTB)

The RCTB indicates to the driver that it is dangerous to continue the backing up maneuver because a moving licensed vehicle will intersect the predicted backing up path causing an accident.     Or because other moving road users (bicycles, small motorcycles, pedestrians) will intersect the predicted backing up path causing an accident.     If the driver doesn’t react by changing the speed or direction, the RCTB will send a brake request in order to automatically stop the car.

  • RCTB is supposed to reduce the number of accidents caused by the limited field of view of the driver that is backing up from a parking space or does a wrong speed estimation
