The term SDV (Software-defined Vehicle) is one of the key topics in the automotive industry - not only for passenger cars but also for commercial vehicles.

A new vehicle architecture is being introduced, with a consistent separation of software and hardware development cycles. This enables rapid development and implementation of solutions over the entire life cycle of the vehicle. Passenger Cars

The automotive industry is changing - manufacturers, drivers and passengers are focusing on mobility requirements and a wide range of functions.
Important functions in the areas of Safe, Exciting, Connected and Autonomous within the vehicle will in future be implemented via software on an existing hardware architecture in the vehicle.

Software-defined HPC and ZCU Architecture

In addition to suitable solutions, our agenda also includes providing support for the SDV, and we use all of our experience and knowledge to achieve this.

The relevant know-how inside and outside the car and the knowledge of the development and integration of complex systems, including the appropriate hardware and enabling products, are also of great importance.

Commercial Vehicles

Software-defined architectures open up enormous potential for commercial vehicles: with the separation of software and hardware development cycles and the introduction of a centralized E/E architecture, it will be possible to retrofit and upgrade commercial vehicles over-the-air with new functions and services regardless of their long service and platform life - without replacing hardware!  

Software-defined Commercial Vehicle HPC Architecture

This transition to the Software-defined Commercial Vehicle (SDCV) will take place gradually in several stages (e.g., initially in individual zones) and requires hardware, software, tools and processes as well as cybersecurity solutions in order to move from today's architectures to completely service-oriented architectures without disruption.

We implement the special hardware requirements with scalable High-Performance Computers (HPC). These "servers" have already proven themselves in the passenger car series and are currently being adapted for commercial vehicles.

In Software-defined Vehicles, functions are enabled by software. The separation of software and hardware development cycles enables high flexibility and scalability in the development and integration of new functions and systems during the entire vehicle life cycle.
